Research Areas

  • The study of the neural and cognitive basis of pragmatic language. Currently I am interested in finding out if the basal ganglia play a role in the comprehension of the pragmatic component of language.

  • The study of the neurotoxic effects of environmental toxicants such as heavy metals and pesticides on basal ganglia function.

In our group, the task that occupies us is the understanding of how the brain processes the communicative function of language, and thus it has its place in the field of Neuropragmatics.

Our findings will contribute to the development of a more inclusive theory of language comprehension, and also to validate the universality of the factors involved in pragmatic language.
